Chloe Tekavcic

received a BFA in Theatre Production and Design from York University and has since enjoyed creating costumes professionally for theatre, circus and film for over 10 years. From working as the head of wardrobe for theatre festivals and full-scale travelling musicals; to sewing for iconic Toronto Landmark theatre companies and Star Trek Discovery for the past four seasons, Chloe has found excitement and fulfillment in many corners of the arts community.

Although these experiences brought so much joy and artistic fulfillment, one truly devastating aspect of the industry was the immense waste. Thinking of herself as one of the great heroes of her generation, she started taking these scraps home, thinking…“this has potential! I’m saving the world! I am environmentalism!” These ‘potentials’ turned into little projects, gifts and suddenly they felt like art.

Teka Studio is the culmination of that art. Each piece is mounted on a wood round cut from a pre-felled or fallen tree from Ontario’s boreal forest. All leather used is reclaimed, reused, or recycled. All designs are inspired by the natural world and the beautiful people and animals who inhabit it.
